Revolut applies for a US banking licence

Revolut filed applications with the OCC and FDIC to create Revolut Bank US, N.A. A federal bank charter would give the company direct access to Fedwire and ACH rails, FDIC deposit insurance and a single framework for operating across all 50 states. Revolut also said it plans to invest $500 million in the US market.

Why it matters

The US application is Revolut's attempt to move from a fintech-app model toward full banking infrastructure. A federal charter would reduce state-by-state fragmentation and give it more control over deposits, payments and lending.

What investors should watch

The next checkpoint is the OCC and FDIC decision. Until approval, this is a regulatory process, not a functioning US bank.
