On July 15, Crusoe and Lancium announced an AI data-center campus in Childress, Texas. The 270-acre site belongs to Lancium, and the grid-connected capacity will reach 1 GW. That is enough to support hundreds of thousands of AI accelerators.
The model is the same as in Abilene: Lancium owns the land and energy infrastructure, while Crusoe designs, builds, and operates the data center. In Abilene, the campus has already been expanded to 1.2 GW, with another 900 MW being built nearby.
Construction in Childress is scheduled to start in Q3 2026. The project is expected to create thousands of jobs during construction and more than 100 permanent roles in the county. Cooling will be closed-loop and non-evaporative, with low water consumption.
