Revolut received two banking licenses in three weeks

Australia, July 21. APRA granted Revolut a full and unrestricted independent ADI license. This is the first global fintech to receive this status and the group's first banking license in APAC. Revolut Bank Australia has launched, with over 1 million retail customers and thousands of businesses being transferred to the regulated perimeter, and a reported A$400 million investment over five years.

France, August 10. Revolut Bank S.A. received a full banking license in France. The application was jointly assessed by the ACPR and the ECB, and the decision was approved by the ECB Governing Council. This is the group's second independent license in the eurozone, following Lithuania's Revolut Bank UAB. The company has approximately 30 million customers in Western Europe, has announced over €1 billion in investments in the region, is hiring over 600 employees, and plans to establish its headquarters in Paris in 2027.

Important: Previously, growth in the EU was achieved through passporting a Lithuanian license, and in Australia, through a payment structure. In-house banking systems offer local products under local law (savings, lending, mortgages) and provide direct access to deposits as a funding source.

Two regulatory perimeters on two continents in three weeks, with a customer base of 75 million. For Revolut, this reduces regulatory risk before listing.
